Empowering communities for change

Rooted in justice: Empowering communities for a healthier Houston

The Raices Collaborative is a nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas, committed to advancing environmental justice and community empowerment.

We focus on raising awareness about the harmful effects of pollution—particularly from oil and gas industries—on vulnerable and historically marginalized communities. Through grassroots organizing, educational events, data-driven campaigns, and advocacy, we help residents understand their environmental rights and inspire them to take collective action.

Our work is grounded in cultural connection, unity, and a deep respect for the land and the people who inhabit it. We aim to build bridges between communities, policymakers, and organizations to create long-term, sustainable solutions. At Raices, we don’t just highlight the problems—we foster hope, action, and resilience. Whether it’s through community storytelling, partnerships, or youth engagement, our goal is to ensure that every voice is heard and that all Houstonians have the opportunity to live in a safe, healthy, and thriving environment.
